It is no secret that the world seems to feel darker and less welcoming. There are fewer things, it seems, to warm your heart and make you believe in humanity again.
To help with that, we have compiled some of the most inspiring acts of humanity and unbridled kindness to show you that there still is something to fight for in this sad old world.
1. Destined To Live

While this may only make a small dent compared to the sheer number of turtles killed every year for food, severe pollution, or while caught up in fishing nets, the lives of these turtles the man saves count for something. For the turtles he can manage to pay for and transport to the ocean, their destiny is another chance at life, all thanks to him.
2. Le Petit Chef

I can relate to this tiny chef taking a break to catch up on some paw patrol. Like her, my business is a home-based one, and the TV is right there; what do you expect me to do? Still, we agree with this man that her restaurant is worthy of a return visit.
3. Dreams in a Modern World

A Nigerian artist shares his work with the world from his home in West Africa. The subject is a carefully chosen one and showcases his immense talent. Just like that, a dream is made true, thanks to one of the most iconic comedy performers of all time. We love to see it!
4. What Having Friends is Like

This is Barry, experiencing a moment of anguish while wearing a bright green dress. It is a cry/laugh moment. His friend Kevin Elliot was killed in action in Afghanistan. Before he died, they had promised each other that if one of them died, they’d wear a bright green dress to the other one’s funeral. This is Barry, keeping that promise.
5. When Your Parents Upstage You and It Rules

For those who know how much harder it is for minorities and people of color to access higher education, this photo brings a smile to the face. It also goes to show that if you want to and are able to get higher education, it is never too late. Learning is a lifelong pursuit after all.
6. Dale’s Kids

This is Dale Schroeder, and his story is remarkable. He lived between 1919 and 2005, spending his adult years as a carpenter in Iowa. he worked for the same company for almost 7 decades and lived on a lean budget. He never married or had children and only owned two pairs of blue jeans; one for work and one for church. Upon his death, it was learned that he had amassed $3 million in life savings at age 86 and had arranged for all of it to be used for the college education of some 33 Iowans. These kids have since formed a foundation called Dale’s Kids.
7. Learning From Kids

Often, children, with their little pure hearts, will show you a thing or two about being a better human, and this kid is one such example. It goes to show that humans thrive on community and togetherness,s and we could use more of this.
8. His Heart Lived On

Hey, who’s cutting onions? Stop it!
These two parents’ son died, and his heart was transplanted into this recipient. The parents got to hear it beat and live on, and their faces say it all.
9. A Child Forced To Be a Hero

This is Anthony Borges. He was in a school shooting and held his class door shut from the shooter, protecting his 20 classmates while being shot 5 times through the door. Until the government and people figure out gun rights, we might have to hear about more kids forced to put their lives on the line for their friends and classmates. I am sure how uplifting that is, but Borges is among the best of humanity. We should all be sorry children have to endure this uniquely American phenomenon.
10. A Father For All Seasons

There are heroes working quietly in the background, tirelessly doing the work and making it a lifelong commitment. They are the people who truly make a difference, and this man stands proud among them. His heart must be massive to hold all that love.
The man kneeling next to the car seat with the baby in it is a professor. A girl in this geography class came in with a newborn because she had to, and the baby started crying in the middle of a quiz. When she took him out to calm him, the professor insisted that he would not mind feeding the baby and rocking the car seat until she finished her quiz. What a wonderful teacher!

This heartwarming and unfortunate event happened in a hospital in Houston. It is alleged that the hospital had already notified transplant patients of the ‘availability’ of the son’s organs; even before switching off the life support!
